The Dry Shampoo Powder Brush Every Traveler Needs

Fanny pack with items

Hey everyone!

If you know me well enough, you'll know just how much I despise washing my hair and dealing with all those hygiene-related tasks. I've always felt that some of them are a waste of time. I mean, who wants to spend hours washing, conditioning, and drying their hair when there are much more exciting things to do, like exploring a new city or catching up on some much-needed sleep before embarking on an adventure? Sure, some people - ahem my sisters and friends - might call me gross for going a long time without washing my hair, but let's save that discussion for another day.

As someone who travels exclusively with a carry-on, I face the challenge of limited space for liquids, and aerosols are particularly troublesome. Before I discovered my new favorite dry shampoo hair care product, the m’chel Day After™ Brush, I would allow myself only one travel-sized Batiste aerosol dry shampoo, sacrificing space for other essential toiletries. But here's the kicker: that tiny spray can would only last me about 3.5 days, leaving me stranded with oily roots or forcing me to resort to the unimaginable act of washing and drying my hair (ugh!). However, the Day After™ Brush is a game-changer. It's a powder-based dry shampoo brush that doesn't count as a liquid, freeing up space for other crucial items. And the best part? It lasts me more than 3.5 days!

Now, you're probably wondering how I stumbled upon this life-saving product. About four months ago, an Instagram ad for m’chel Haircare’s Day After™ Brush popped up on my feed, and yes, I'm one of those suckers who occasionally buys things off Instagram ads. However, what really drew me to this product was my love for dry shampoo and the desire to overcome its downsides. Aerosol dry shampoos always left my scalp itchy, and after a few days, scratching my head would reveal dark and disgusting gunk under my nails. So, after giving in to my curiosity and visiting m’chel Haircare’s website, I was convinced. I purchased one in February, and I haven't touched an aerosol dry shampoo since. And believe it or not, I'm still on the same bottle/brush, four months later.

Before my trip, I had left my dry shampoo on my sister's bathroom counter, and she decided to give it a try on her oily roots. Lo and behold, she fell in love with it too! In fact, she loved it so much that she ended up buying one for herself and another for our other sister.

So now that you know how I stumbled upon this product and how it has revolutionized my carry-on packing, let me share my thoughts on m’chel Haircare’s Day After™ Brush—the good, the bad, and the ugly, though mostly good!

The Good

No scalp build-up

Say goodbye to the itchy scalp! With m’chel's patented brush applicator, there's no more build-up that leads to an itchy scalp. Unlike aerosol dry shampoos that would cake onto my scalp and make it itchy after a few days, this brush keeps the powder away from my scalp while brushing away the oils from my hair.

No white residue

Finally, no more embarrassing white residue! Unlike aerosol versions that require vigorous rubbing in, this dry shampoo brush doesn't leave any white stuff in your hair. I can't tell you how many times my sisters or friends had to point out the white stuff on my hair before.

Carry-on friendly

The powder brush is travel size friendly, easy to toss into your carry-on. But, the best part is that it doesn't count as a liquid - unlike other aerosol dry shampoos, freeing up space for other liquid toiletries!

Lasts a long time

The brush can last up to two years, and they even offer refills for the powder itself. That's a seriously long time if you ask me. Plus, the powder itself lasts for months. I've been using it for four months, and it looks like I haven't even made a dent in the powder. I use the brush daily and only wash my hair 1-2 times a week. This little dry shampoo brush is small but mighty!

Fragrance-free option

No more inhaling chemical fragrances! Unlike aerosol dry shampoos that fill the air with chemicals and fragrances, the Day After™ Brush offers a fragrance-free option. It's a win-win for both your hair and your health.

Voluminous hair

Even after 4-5 days without washing, my hair looks fresh and voluminous! Not only does it remove the oils from my hair, but this magical brush also somehow adds volume to my locks.

Natural ingredients

This product is clean, my friend! It's made without sulfates, parabens, phthalates, and other harmful chemicals, and it's cruelty-free. Unlike aerosol versions, you won't be inhaling any harmful chemicals from the air, which is even better for your well-being.

The Bad

Shape & size

If there's one thing I wish could be improved, it's the shape and size of the brush. As a traveler constantly on the go with perpetually oily hair, I wish the product were slimmer and more compact. Although the Day After™ Brush fits into my Lululemon fanny pack dupe, travel size aerosol dry shampoos are much more convenient and can easily fit into any small purse, bag, or crossbody. Here's to hoping they'll introduce a travel on-the-go version that's as slim and portable as a contour stick or a travel aerosol dry shampoo.

Bristles may break off

Word of caution—don't go brushing too vigorously like I did. On my first try, I went all out, scrubbing my scalp like there was no tomorrow, and one of the big bristles broke off. I was devastated, but I learned my lesson the hard way. Now, I brush gently, and that's all you need for this product to work its magic.

Ever since the m’chel Haircare Day After™ Brush entered my life, I haven't looked back. Even with its cons, the pros outweigh all of it. This travel size dry shampoo brush has made my scalp happier, my hair more voluminous, and saved me from the headache of packing liquids for my carry-on. It's truly a game-changer, my friend! That's all for now!

Happy packing!
